Air Force Space Budget

Also in today's budget request from the White House was $105.9 billion for the military spending including $9.8 billion for space programs. Combine that with NASA's budget and you get $26.6 billion allocated to space programs.

Now let's take a look at Canada's space budget. For fiscal year 2005 $300 million was allocated to the Canadian Space Agency. The military budget for 2005 was approximately $13 billion of which a very small percentage was allocated to space. So basically Canada's space spending is 1.5% of the combined US civilian and military budgets. Personally I would like to see the civilian side of the Canadian Space Agency budget increased so that Canada can compete in an ever growing space sector. I fear at this rate we will be left behind.
