Visit the HMP Research Station Weblog

Yesterday I launched the HMP Research Station weblog. The blog provides updates on the activities at the research station on Devon Island in the Canadian high arctic. The field season is underway and will run through the first week of August.

Activities this year are centered around the Arthur Clarke Mars Greenhouse, the Drilling Automation for Mars Exploration (DAME) Project , Flight Surgeons Medical Operations and Research, Geology and Geochemistry, Human Exploration and Information Technology and Communications.

I came accross this press release today. Mike Constantine is selling signed hi-res panoramas but you can look at the pans online for free and really get a sense of what it's like on the moon.

New Virtual Reality Panoramas released by Moonpans.com, gives the viewer an An Astronauts Eye View Of The Lunar Surface. Made from photographs taken by the Apollo Astronauts over 30 years ago, and assembled into 360 degree Virtual Reality movies, now anyone can experience what it was like to stand on the surface of the moon.

There are 7 movies so far, covering Apollo's 11, 12 14, 15 and 17 with many more coming soon.
